The Miami String Quartet teams up with legendary clarinetist David Shifrin for Weber’s high-spirited Clarinet Quintet—written for one of the leading clarinet virtuosos of Weber’s day—and violinist Jennifer Frautschi and pianist Shai Wosner play Bartók’s Second Violin and Piano Sonata, an intoxicating and wholly individual work that helped build the composer’s international reputation. The thrilling program also includes a performance of Beethoven’s youthful but seminal (and highly demanding) String Trio in D Major.
