Rameau’s La Guirlande tells the tale of two enchanted garlands through a combination of graceful, expressive Baroque dance music and irresistible operatic arias. In contrast, Handel’s towering Dixit Dominus takes a more dramatic turn, with energetic rhythms and intricate vocal writing that show off the full power of the Philharmonia Chorale. Philharmonia Baroque’s Music Director Emeritus Nicholas McGegan returns to the podium to lead the ensemble through these Baroque triumphs.
