Bernstein & Rachmaninov

Alevtina Ioffe returns to conduct richly and unusually textured works by three 20th-century titans. Bernstein’s Serenade, written for Isaac Stern, showcases the virtuosity of Ukrainian-Israeli violinist Vadim Gluzman. This work for violin, percussion and string orchestra is based on The Symposium, Plato’s Socratic dialogue on love, and ranges from solemnly contemplative to jazzy and sprightly.
