Highlands United Church has been a part of North Vancouver’s built landscape since 1912, when the original Highlands Methodist Church was constructed. That first building, now heavily modified, still stands nearby and serves as the official manse.

A new sanctuary was built and opened in 1923, followed by the construction of the current structure in the early 1960s to better support the growing community. Designed with flexibility and strong acoustics in mind, the building has hosted both religious and cultural events over the decades.

Recognized for its historical significance, the church was granted Heritage status in the 1990s. Renovations since then have focused on preserving key architectural elements while upgrading accessibility and interior functionality.
